Purpose
When NM Sadguru Foundation began its work, the initial focus was on developing irrigation systems to support rain-dependent farmers. Access to reliable water transformed agriculture—enabling consistent crop production, reducing food insecurity, and helping families achieve self-sufficiency.

Sustainable Farming
With food security ensured, efforts then turned toward making agriculture more profitable. Through capacity building and training in improved crop practices, farmers gained the knowledge and skills to enhance productivity.
This included increasing cereal production and encouraging farmers to grow high-value crops such as vegetables, tubers, flowers, and fruits—offering a steady income throughout the year.

The Power of Community Participation

Building a water-secure future through grassroots collaboration.

Community Participation
01 Knowledge Sharing
Communities help farmers access better farming techniques, high-quality seeds, and modern agricultural practices through collective learning and training programs.
02 Market Access and Better Prices
Community-based organizations help farmers establish marketing linkages, ensuring they receive fair prices for their produce through collective bargaining and processing initiatives.
03 Strengthened Self-Governance
Cooperatives and federations empower farmers by promoting self-reliance, skilled manpower development, and decision-making, reducing dependence on external support.
04 Diversification of Crops
Community involvement encourages farmers to move beyond traditional crops and cultivate high-value crops like vegetables, spices, and floriculture, increasing their income potential.
Women Empowerment Sustainable Agriculture
Through SHGs, women farmers gain access to resources, training, and decision-making opportunities, strengthening their role in agriculture. Beyond financial independence, SHGs address critical social issues such as health, education, and sanitation, fostering holistic community development.
