HOW TO SUPPORT

Drinking Water Schemes
Access to safe drinking water is a major challenge in remote tribal regions where households are scattered across hamlets. NM Sadguru has developed decentralized drinking water schemes. By implementing small-scale systems for 25-30 households per hamlet, the Foundation ensures sustainable access while fostering community ownership.

Women’s Role
Drinking water scheme is designed after assessing community needs through discussions with women, the primary water collectors in rural areas. To ensure proper management and maintenance, the Foundation has promoted and strengthened Pani Samitis—women-led committees that oversee operations and sustain the schemes.

Pani Samiti:
Community-Led Water Management

NM Sadguru developed a hamlet-based decentralized drinking water supply model that fosters community involvement and ensures long-term functionality. .

Central to this initiative is the Pani Samiti, an institution formed at the hamlet or faliya level, comprising 20-35 women members who represent all households in the area. These women are also members of local self-help groups (SHGs), reinforcing financial discipline and accountability within the community.
