HOW TO SUPPORT

Small- Scale Masonry Check Dams
The Foundation built a series of small-scale masonry check dams along rivers and rivulets, ensuring year-round water storage for irrigation, drinking, and groundwater recharge. This decentralized approach transformed seasonal waterways into perennial sources, securing sustainable water access for local communities.
Water Resources
Water Storage Capacity
Most of the Foundation’s check dams have storage capacities between 20 mcft and 350 mcft, with a total exceeding 2,000 mcft. This achievement highlights the impact of collaboration between the NGO and the government in securing sustainable water resources.
Water Harvesting
Check Dams: A Lifeline for Agriculture and Communities
For over 30 years, the Foundation has leveraged government and CSR funding to optimize water harvesting. With 376 check dams across 80+ rivers and rivulets, the initiative supports 56,976 acres of Rabi irrigation, benefiting 24,418 households.

Farmer-Led Maintenance of Check Dams

From Construction to Conservation: A Community-Driven Approach

For each check dam, a local "check dam group" is formed, comprising beneficiaries who oversee maintenance and gate operations during the monsoon season. Additionally, many check dams are integrated with Lift Irrigation schemes, managed by dedicated cooperatives, ensuring long-term sustainability and efficient water use.
